Industry — Chemical

Control every batch by shelf life, segregate hazardous stock, and value it down to the drum.

Solvents, resins, acids and powders carry lot numbers, expiry dates and hazard classes. Fast Inventory tracks each batch with FEFO issue, holds hazardous and quarantined stock in segregated zones, converts drums, kilos, litres and packs on the fly, and leaves an immutable ledger behind every movement. Cloud or on-premise, for chemical makers and distributors across India and worldwide.

Why chemical makers & distributors choose Fast Inventory Software

The stock problems every
chemical business knows

Shelf life expires before you issue it

Solvents, resins and reagents have real expiry dates. Without FEFO and an expiry dashboard, older lots sit behind newer ones and become write-offs — or a customer gets material too close to its use-by date.

Hazardous stock isn't kept apart

Flammables, oxidisers and corrosives have to be stored in the right zone, away from each other. When storage is one generic warehouse in the system, there's no record that incompatible chemicals were segregated.

Drums, kilos and litres don't reconcile

Material arrives in drums, is stocked by weight and issued by volume. Without built-in UOM conversion, every count and every issue is a manual calculation that quietly drifts away from the book.

Batch cost and traceability get lost

When two lots of the same chemical cost different amounts, average costing hides it — and when a batch has to be recalled, nobody can trace which receipts and issues it touched.

How Fast Inventory Software fixes each one
FEFO on shelf lifeEvery lot carries production and expiry dates, the lot-expiry dashboard buckets stock by expiry window, and FEFO issue excludes expired lots and consumes the nearest-expiry batch first.
Segregated & quarantined storageConfigure hazmat zones and store locations, and hold status — available, hold, quarantine, damage — keeps incompatible or unreleased stock out of availability without moving a drum.
UOM conversion built inThe item master holds inventory, purchase, sales and packaging UOMs with conversions, so drums, kilograms, litres and packs reconcile automatically on receipt, issue and count.
Per-batch valuation on an immutable ledgerEach lot carries its own rate, valuation is per batch, and every movement posts to the immutable stock ledger — so recall and audit trace back to the exact receipts and issues.
Chemical stock lifecycle

From batch receipt to valued issue —
one ledger carries the whole cycle

Fast Inventory runs receipt, segregated storage, reservation, FEFO issue and reconciliation on one platform — so shelf life, hazard zones and batch value stay one connected flow, not scattered registers.

End-to-end flow

Receive the batch → segregate & reserve →
issue by FEFO → count, value & trace

Fast Inventory carries a chemical batch through its full stock life — so what you received is stored by hazard class, issued nearest-expiry first, and every kilo stays traceable on the ledger.

Receive & label the batch
Goods receipt captures lot number, production and expiry dates and hazard class, prints a barcode label and posts stock to a segregated zone
Segregate, reserve & hold
Store the lot in its hazmat zone, reserve drums against a batch order, and set hold or quarantine status until QC releases it
Issue by FEFO
Material issue consumes the nearest-expiry eligible lot first and excludes expired or held lots, converting drums to litres or kilos as it goes
Count, value & trace
Physical count records variance, an adjustment reconciles it, per-batch valuation prices on-hand, and the immutable ledger traces every movement
01 — Lot & shelf-life control (FEFO)

Every batch issued by its shelf life

Chemical raw materials carry real expiry dates. Fast Inventory holds production and expiry dates on every lot, buckets available stock on the lot-expiry dashboard (previous, today, this week, month, quarter), and issues by FEFO — expired lots are excluded as a hard filter and the nearest-expiry batch goes out first. See lot, batch & expiry (FEFO).

02 — Hazmat & segregated storage

Hazardous stock kept in its own zone

Flammables, oxidisers, acids and bases have to be stored apart. Fast Inventory models a full store hierarchy — plant, warehouse, location, store location and bin — so you configure hazmat zones and keep incompatible chemicals segregated. Lot status (available, hold, quarantine, damage) keeps unreleased or blocked stock out of availability without moving a drum. See stock movements.

03 — UOM conversions (drum / kg / litre / pack)

Drums, kilos and litres that always reconcile

Chemicals arrive in drums, are stocked by weight and issued by volume. The item master holds inventory, purchase, sales and packaging UOMs with conversion factors, so a 200-litre drum, its kilograms and its packs stay in step across receipt, issue, transfer and count — no manual arithmetic drifting from the book. See item & material master.

04 — Reserve, virtual & bulk transfer

Commit drums to a batch before you issue

A planned batch needs its raw material ring-fenced. Fast Inventory reserves and de-reserves stock — moving quantity between on-hand and reserved — and holds soft virtual reservations during picking, so drums earmarked for one batch order aren't issued to another. Bulk stock transfer moves raw material between stores at net-zero, with every leg on the ledger. See stock movements.

05 — Batch valuation & immutable ledger

Every movement valued and traceable

When two lots of the same chemical cost differently, batch valuation keeps each lot at its own rate rather than blurring it into an average. Every receipt, issue, transfer and adjustment posts an immutable stock-ledger row — opening, in, out, closing and running balance — so a recall or audit traces a batch back to the exact movements. See reports & analytics.

FAQ

Chemical inventory —
what buyers ask us

Can it issue chemicals by shelf life (FEFO)?

Yes. Every lot carries production and expiry dates, the lot-expiry dashboard buckets stock by expiry window, and FEFO issue excludes expired lots and consumes the nearest-expiry batch first — so older material goes out before it becomes a write-off.

Can it keep hazardous stock segregated?

Yes. A full plant-to-bin hierarchy lets you configure hazmat zones for flammables, oxidisers and corrosives, and hold or quarantine status keeps incompatible or unreleased stock out of availability without moving a drum.

Does it convert between drums, kilos and litres?

Yes. The item master holds inventory, purchase, sales and packaging UOMs with conversion factors, so drums, litres, kilograms and packs reconcile automatically on receipt, issue, transfer and count.

Can it reserve stock for a batch and do bulk transfers?

Yes. Reserve and de-reserve move quantity between on-hand and reserved, virtual reservation soft-commits stock during picking, and bulk stock transfer moves raw material between stores at net zero.

How does batch valuation and traceability work?

Each lot carries its own rate for per-batch valuation, and every movement posts an immutable stock-ledger row, so a recall or audit traces a batch back to the exact receipts, issues and transfers.

Is Fast Inventory only for chemical companies?

No. It suits manufacturers, distributors, traders, 3PL and warehousing businesses of every kind — cloud or on-premise, across India and worldwide. Chemical is a strong fit because shelf life, hazard segregation and batch valuation matter most there.
